Question Buying OEM-Grade+ Oil Filters in Bulk

Hi,

I'd like to know if some of you would be able to suggest a few bulk retailers or distributors of OEM (or superior) synthetic oil filters for a (Gen3) D17 (2004 / 2005 Acura EL)? I'd like to buy 12-15 (preferably in person, but shipping is OK) & obviously for a good cash / credit discount.

Thanks!

Any EL / Civic owners running full synthetic oil that buy their synthetic oil filters in bulk & have volume purchase advice they're willing to share? Thanks.

Ralph from Acura North (Yonge & Steeles) offered a bulk purchase price of $6.75 / OEM Honda Synthetic Oil filter (on an order of 15).
They're manufactured by Honeywell & standard equipment for the SynthOil-only Turbocharged Acura RDX. [Part #: 15400 PLM AO2].

But I plan to buy only 12, and at $7 each (excluding tax), I believe that's still a good deal.

Comments?

Hi,

I believe your statement concerning OEM synthetic oil filters is correct.
I've heard that many times from reputable independent industry insiders (with very little to gain by saying so).

* * *

Just to continue the discussion, a few good reference sites... (some information many years old)

http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...ilfilters.html

http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...lterstudy.html

http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar...ers/index.html

After a moderate amount of online research & assuming application availability, I'm looking at:

1. Wix / Napa Gold;
2. Amsoil;
3. K & N;
4. Mobil1;
5. Purolator.

I simply want to buy the best of the best (in bulk) because I need a filter designed to last for a 20k change interval, to match my long life Mobil1 full synthetic oil (also specifically designed to last 20k).

Helpful suggestions / constructive comments welcome...

not to be a smart ***... but why would you want to buy oil filters in bulk if you're planning to do oil changes every 20,000km. just because your Mobil1 oil is long life does not mean that your Vtec, or Honda enigine will not need to be topped up. So 12 oil filters will last you 240,000km !?!?! Dude , unless you drive a taxi, why would you wanna save a couple dollars and have your filters sit a minimum of 4yrs assuming that you drive 60,000km a yr. I don't wanna break your ***** or be rude, but that money could be better spent elsewhere. so the difference is like $10 for the year if you drive 60,000km a yr. If you drive 30,000 km a yr which is a bit more like avg, then you would be saving $5 for the year at approx 1.5 oil changes a yr. Just think about it is what i''m saying, as i'm just giving an opinion. Honda OEM all the way

^^ Fair enough.

But by bulk at this point, I meant 6 or 8 filters total. I drive approximately 75k - 90k / year & hope to hold onto my current vehicle for another 120k - 140k. Up until now, I've been paying $13 - $15 for mid-range quality filters (full price at each interval) & I'm just hoping to find a contact for a bulk purchase.

I'm streamlining my car part shopping habits & it could mean the difference between eventually paying around $130 for 8 mediocre filters, or around $40 for a good 1-time hook-up on 6 superior, long-lasting filters, and that's $90 I can definitely put to better use, that's all.

Thanks.

Further feedback welcome!

Well, at this point, I've got offers from 1 Napa & 1 CarQuest for the top-tier NAPA Gold / Premium WIX (or in-house CarQuest brand equivalent) at the commercial bulk purchase price point ($8.xx) on a purchase of 8+.

For now, I only need 4, if anyone would like the remaining 4 (at my cost), please PM me ASAP.
I plan to purchase the bulk order before the end of this business week. Thanks.

So you only need 4 more filters?

I have a case full of OEM Honda filters that are the same ones that would go on your car when you bring it in for service at the dealership (part number is 15400-PLM-A02).

I would sell you 4 of them, but i don't think it's worth it for me to ship them to you in TO (i'm in Vancouver).

^^ Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking for something superior to OEM.

Currently working on a local order of 3 AMSOIL, or 6 WIX (NAPA Gold) at a 40% discount.
