my stereo just made a mind of its own!!

Sup ladies and gents!!

i need some assistance of the wise!!!!

So about 2 weeks ago i was cruising along listening to a CD i made, got the subs pounding and then i kinda go... WTF is that.... the base was going with the music AND MORE.... so i paused the song and what comes to my surprise but that my subs were still pounding on its own, and not consistent either. just keep going!!

so i assumed maybe it was a short of some sort, maybe my power wire was stripped somehow maybe by heat and was messing it up. so i re-wired my ground to my amp, and re-wired the power to my amp as well as re-wired my power at the battery. and STILL it doesn't work...

so wuts weird is when my car is turned OFF and i turn my stereo on, its perfect, but as soon as i turn my car ON, its messed up. Only difference i know that occurs is that the voltage goes from 12v to 14v to the amp when is turned on.

Now, my amp had a protection LED on it, from what i understand it flashes for 1 of 3 reasons.
1 - overheating (which is not the case)
2 - short in circuit (but if there is a short wouldn't there be on when car is off also??)
3 - low impedance....

so any ideas from the wise as to WTF is going on??

Sounds like it is picking up feedback how did you run the wires in your car?

It will let you know if it's the amp or the wiring.

k, so i unplugged my rca's and it still does it, i then got a new wire and plugged my amp's remote straight to the +12V and it still does it....

so, my guess is either the power or ground.... now i did notice just now that when it was doing it, my car's rpm sounded like it went lower, do u think maybe my alternators ground wire is messed????????

k, i'll tell u the equipment, but its irrelevant since it was working fine before. i just really needed to know what would be messed...

so i got an amp, phoenix gold, 12" alpine type r sub, a deck, and speakers. lolol... amp is wired to the battery passenger side of the car with a fuse inbetween. ground to amp is wired to body of car in trunk. remote wire and rca's are running along driver side to deck...

i know its not my rca's nor my remote wire. i tested my alternator and its fine, so its either my power wire, or ground wire, i rewired my ground wire so i'm sure thats not it, but if it is my power wire why would it do such a thing when the car is on and not off?? why would the signal be good one way and not the other.. any ideas??

It could be a loose solder connection in the amp.

My suggestion would be to take it to your local car audio shop and let them diagnose the problem with out seeing it we are just shooting in the dark. When your car is running it gives a different voltage compared to when your car is off, there are so many different things it could be, like I said before just take it to someone to get it looked at. Most shops will not charge to just look.
