near match ct paint
its around $6 a can, and is awfully small

use that, and do it properly, you'll have a nice outcome

it will cost you around $40 do do those small parts george. MAke sure you get some fine grit sand paper, TSP grease remover, non-metal primer, paint and some clear coat. All of this is available at CT.

Scarlemthug...

Did you use the black dye on the dash and large portions of your interior (or on the small plastic accents)?

If you used it on the dash, I'd like to the see the outcome if possible (before/after pics)....please send them if you have any

chughnyc@hotmail.com

Also, if you go to any of the west-end meets, I'd like to see the results.

Hey man,

Last weekend I took off my door panels and taped off everything and used the black dye on the vinyl part of the doors. It looks really nice and is gonna last the lifetime of the car. If I can get a digicam I will take pictures, I plan on doing the dash this weekend if it isnt too hard to get out of the car. So far I have done the window crank, armrest plastic piece, door handle and surround, mirror adjustment area, gauge surround, fuse panel cover, entire lower dash, glow box, shifter, shifter area, e-brake area, vents and glove box. I just need to get my dads cam or someone else and I will post pics up.

Good luck getting your dashboard out... it's totally doable, but plan on two full days, and weeks of trying to figure out where the squeaks and rattles are coming from.

You mean when im putting it back in? I may just remove as many pieces on and around the dash as possible and tape off and cover everything else. I know where most hte screws are to remove it im just kinda worried about getting it back in as most the time things dont fit right when you put em on the second time.

harper just taped off the windshield and used paint thinner to clean off the dash cause all the old cleaners and such might make the paint bubble. then tape off like the gauge window and take out any vents and any other parts you dont want to do black, or whatever color your doing. make sure you cover your seats cause you dont want paint on those, and just spray evenly until the dash is covered but TAKE YOUR TIME, cause there are spots that are very tough to cover and if you make a 1/2 assed job of it its going to come out completely uneven. Dont worry if any paint gets on the windows, that can be taken right off with thinner and give the dash atleast an 1/2 an hr to an hr to dry just in case, you dont want to mess up anything and your done.

I'm just kidding, it's not like I care what the car looks like inside. There's white spray all over the rubber window trims, which is about all I'm keeping from the interior, other than the dash, which I have to strip clean.

Old picture, but you can see the white spray.
