what do i need to know?
- its gonna cost you alot

cost?

- 3 -4 g's? (correct me if i'm wrong but going white is expensive )
- If you want your engine bay and everything stripped and repainted will cost you more

what's the best place

- alot of places are good, jsut your own preference , Velocity ( on
Mccowan and Heritage) does alot of good work although you will get reponses soon to check the Affiliates page so just shop around get some opinions from people who have had experiences

techinique

- don't know , not a painter, sandblast?

types of methods for painting from least to most expensive
etc?

- dont' cheap it out, do it right the first time

Re: Paint Paint Paint...WHERE?

cost? it varies alot depending on how much work needed AND how much work you want done.

what's the best place techinique
types of methods for painting from least to most expensive
etc?

I would recommend Team Rukus as well....his prices are pretty damn good. Especially the show car package...that is alot of freakin work for a really good price.

(taken from Team Rukus' post in Vendor Classifieds)
Showroom paintjobs will consist of the following:

Complete sanding of every panel to bare metal = providing an uncontaminated surface

Complete dent and rust removal (metal welding) = to provide a flawless straight/flat surface

Sprayed with Zinc and Epoxy Primer completely = Must have! Rust & Stone chip resistance

Wetsand of Primer with 600-800 grit
Basecoat paint applied (standox, sikkens, dupont chromebase) = Nice paint selection, wet sanding primer furthermore promotes a great surface.

First Clear Coat applied (standox, glasurit, dupont) = High Solids Clear Coats

Wetsand of Clear Coat Apply 2 more Coats of clear = Super Glossy

Wetsand of Clear Coat again Apply 2 more coats of clear = Super Duper Glossy

Wetsand of Clear again Highspeed Buffing with compound Complete Wax&Detail = As shiny as shiny can be.

Since every panel is painted individually its safe to assume that all trimmings, weather strips and removable parts will be taken off. Which equates to ALOT of work.

I would recommend the show car package for long lasting finish and durability.

IMO - if u dont hae the money and u r thinking of diy, this is what i would do

i personally would do it this way, i have experience with painting my rear quarterpanels. and other smaller parts of my vehicle.

I painted them after doing my bodywork to the rust and resprayed them using mixed paint color in a can. i would recommend doing a full panel at 1 time, masking off the rest of that side of the car or any other parts that are at risk of overspray. do good clean and prep work to make life easier, lie sand clean etc, spray from 1 side to the other and then the other and opposite again, and eventually as u finish the panel let it fry and cure then buff and polish.

mines came out nice and glossy very close to the oem finish on other parts of my car, i plan to repaint myself using the same method as i used on my quarters. and i did 2 quaterpanels with 1 can, which is about 5 oz or 9 oz forgot. $30 a can, with clear coat mixed in.
