just get a sub box with 2 10" subs, a decent amp and a head unit and you're set. simple yet good.

Well some 2 or even cheap 3-ways can suffice. Or even the factory ones would work but then you'd need crossovers and filters so they don't fry

ok, i know i want to get 2 12's, an amp a deck and possibly some speakers, maybe not all at once, i want to spend 1-2 grand to start off with but i want to know what specific brands, models ect are good. i drive a 98 civic si, to answer your question. i just got in an accident though, and it's been in the shop getting repaired for the last month! damn toyota echo's, one hit me in a parking lot.

for 1-2 grand you can get a very nice setup... i usually like using fosgates or jl's...their subs and and amps are usually a lil underrated so they perform pretty well even at higher wattage.
when u'r looking to buy the subs look at the rms value...not teh peak value..the rms value is what the sub can consistently handle...there usually is a significant difference in the rms and peak value (rms is lower)....for an amp..u have to consider if you want a single multi channel amp to power everything..or if you wnat one amp for just your subs...and then one for any mids and highs....ask around and check out other peoples system to get a feel for what u like.....gluk
