GSR cluster in 5th gen

I read the guide on JDM Fan to do this swap, but it was for a 6th gen. Anyone do this in a 5th gen? One guy I talked to said he got it in, but the plastic trim doens't fit because the cluster is too big. So im wondering if it can modified to fit back in with the larger GSR cluster in?

Any links or info appreciated.

It's funny you should ask this but, a few days ago, Geekracer took his 5th Gen into our shop to have the same thing done to his car. Geekracer also has this chart that tells you all the wire color codes and to which wire color code it hooks up to. It didn't take long...just about 1 hour and a half to hook it up and make sure all is running fine. The only problem we came across was, the tach and speedometer on the gsr gauge didn't work for a while until we discovered that the set up blew the No. 4 fuse in your fuse box just under your steering column. We couldn't figure out what was going on. On top of that, the set up also blew out his coolant temperature sensor for your dash gauge...like it actually went off like a fire cracker in the engine bay...!! lol...it's this little plug like thing just below your distributor. His temperature gauge wasn't working before either...we still need to replace that...but, for some reason, the tach seems to draw more current than the stock 5th gen does. The fuse is labled as a 10...I'd suggest keeping a few 10's or 15's at hand when you do the installation just incase. The stock GSR gauge surround won't fit into the existing opening on the 5th Gen...it seems you'll have to cut-to-fit the gauge into the 5th Gen surround...and as well, fabricate a piece on the bottom to fill in the extra gap from the edge of the surround, to the bottom of the gsr gauge. On top of that, the corners of the gauge don't fit either so, you'll have to cut there to....good luck with the install...if you have further questions, PM me.
