did you guys just use a dremel to cut the plastice to make the new 6.5's fit? the outer ring is a bit big for it which is causeing the stock grill in teh door not to go over it...any suggestions? i dont want to use the grills that caem with the speakers ...98 civic thanks

i had to do that for my in the fronts for my ek ... and its perfect ..

I took out all the plastic crap and made some wood surrounds out of mdf and then trimmed the panels to fit over it

just trim the plastic the is behind the speakers the cover will cover no problem

Yeah when i did mine, i couldnt use the stock grill cover to go over the speakers. I even trimmed all the honey combs behind them and it still ddnt fit, so i just used the covers that came with the component set. I really dont like how it looks tho. Oh, and yes i used a dremel tool to cut out the inside so that it fit properly.

Yea I found that to be a bit of a problem, used prior plastic mounting kits I had because the new ones wouldn't fit properly. Do what RDub said it will be good.
