Emerg Brake Light always on

Anyone ever have this problem before? I was driving and out of no where the e-brake light came on and it stayed on. I shut the car off restarted it, light still stays on.
I tried playing around with the handle to see if something is triggering it but it's on steady.

Any ideas?

edit.. I did a quick search, i'll check the brake fluid after work tonight but pls post if you have any alternative solutions..

thx

Is your brake fluid filled up?
I have heard that light will stay on when the fluid is low.

but if your fluid is low you will have another problem.

ie. worn brake pads, leak, etc

Im going to remove the armrest and center console to see if I find anything..

If you have a Digital Multi Meter I would test the switch on the Master Cylinder. It would be a lot quicker than ripping your armrest part.

Just check for continuity with the switch in the on & off position.
