50 x 4 is just a pre-amp and refers to the power it'll give your speakers. Like i said about your other post you either got some loose wiring going but my BEST GUESS says your not getting enough battery.

Because your battery is giving power to your deck and amp. Sometimes it'll give more power to one thing over another depending on the wiring. And I could possibly be also your amp is cutting out to...How do you know it's not did you check? Becuase if your deck is cutting out... obviously your amp is not being in use.. and since it happens when your driving.... you posssibly could not have watched the amp to see if the power cuts out. If i had time and your in my area... i could check your set up but i wouldn't be able to until after the winter holidays. If you feel my suggestion or any other suggestion is not right... go into one of the many sound shops and check it out. Even best buy might be able to help you out... but a warning their troubleshooting method also involves searching forums and websites.

the rating on the deck has nothing to do the the amp. the 50x4 is in reference to the speakers, not the sub. the sub is wired through RCA plugs.

I still kind of think its an overload is its cutting the deck... check ur amp and see if all the wires are connected correctly. hook up an amp meter to see how much current the amp is drawing

turn the gain down on your amp so its not trying to reproduce a low note and draining ur battery

or buy a cap

funny thread so much advice yet nothing done yet

need a cap then get one... are you drawing that much power? more then 200 RMS ? get cap. its easier on your bat and alt save money in the long run.

ohh yeah your deck has the same power source as everything else on your dash... so if its just the deck then prob is the deck.

Sounds like a loose wire on the deck harness, or overloading the amp in a ohm load not supported buy his amp (caused by bridging your amp), which amp and sub are you running? which deck and what is the sub wired for??

More then 200 watts RMS??? A cap wont do anything other then act like a bandage. Your alt is only gonna have to work harder to recharge the cap every time the system needs it. Before buying a cap, replace the battery with something on a higher end (ie Optima etc,). I have over 2000watts RMS on a stock alt and aftermarket battery and i rarely see voltage drops (and only during idle on a high volume).. A cap will not help this guy. Buying a high output alt, bigger wiring, and a bigger battery will, but it will not fix his problem.

they are... yes the alt will have to change the cap when the bass drops, but atleast the current is being pulled from the cap rather than straight from the battery. That's the advantage of having a cap

I have a stock(generic battery) stock alterator and a 2 farad cap. running an apline RZ sub and a 200RMS mtx 4004 amp. had an amp gauge wired in to keep an eye on the curent being drained.. so far no issues with the alternator battery

The reason caps are a waste of $$ is because they will not produce any more amperage then what the stock will do.. Check out the fuse rating on your amp, say its 100 amps, this is the most current it can take before it blows. The stock alt can only put out so much, thus it causes voltage losses, and in general a loss in dB's. Providing proper amperage, such as a 150 amp alt (which cost less then $200 to rebuild a running used one) will give more power to every amplifier and acc the car is running.
