Capacitor install?

Hey, does anyone know how to install a stiffening capacitor?
I just ordered one and should be receiving it soon.

are you talking about a 'cap' for a speaker? I've never heard is called a stiffening capacitor? - maybe wrong thing all together.

If it is simply a cap for a speaker just wire it up in series with your positive leading to the speaker. Splice, insert, tap it up.

It's actually a more of a filter cap... It will reduce noise... And you do not hook them up in "series" you hook them up in "parallel" to your circuit...

You generally only use one cap per speaker so how do you figure that you wire this up in parellel????

If I wanted to hook up 3 amplifiers to the stiffening cap, is that possible? and is it bad to do that?

It depends on how much power you are running. Usually a 1 farrad cap can handle 2 amps 3 may be pushing it.

I think he's hooking up the cap (dielectric) to the power for the AMP (stiffenning) ... so it filters out noise in the power going into the AMP... sorry if I'm stepping on your toes I don't mean to...

Well, the cap says it supports up to 1000watts.
My amps are running abourd 800watts rms in total i believe...give or take a little.
so you think that the 1.0 farad cap will be able to handle it?

yoo, I installed the capacitor today, damn, took like 2 hours for me cuz I never did it before.
But it works perfectly fine now so I'm pretty happy about saving the money from getting it installed elsewhere.
This one place told me they were charging 40 bucks plus extra for the cables.
