amp doesn't shut off

i have a pheonix gold xs 2200 amp. its all wired properly i think. it works fine. the only problem is that when the deck it turned off the amp stays on. so i've been just pulling the fuse to shut it off lately. but thats annoying.

anyone have any clues why this is happening?

the remote wire goes from the deck where the manual said it should go to the remote contact on the amp.... its done the same thing on 3 different decks too.....

the thing is.... when i bought the car it came with an old sony amp powering the rear speakers.... and that amp shut off fine.... so i bought a cd player deck and the sony amp still shut off..... so then i got the new deck... and wired the rear speakers right off the deck and then got some subs and ran them off the pheonix gold amp.... but it never shut off.... it has the same wiring as the sony amp had.... maybe its something internal to the amp?

maybe the remote was tapped on to a power supply that is constant and not switched by the ignition.

Try connecting the remote wire to another device in the fuse ox that is switched, like the cigerette lighter etc.

good call, what kind of a signal/voltage would go through the remote wire to turn the amp on??

Its very low amperage 12volt that turns thre amp on. LIke .2 amps or something. So the wire can be small awg, like 18 or 24 awg etc. The amp just needs to see a 12 volt source to let it know to turn on.

Give that a try and see if it helps.

Only prob with that is you might leave it on one day and forget to turn the switch off when you exit the car.

well i'm not to concerned with leaving the switch on cause as of now i have to open the hatch, yank the fuse and go on my way..

so i've kinda got it programmed in my head to shut it off if i'm leaving the car for any great length of time....

i think it may be the actual amp though.... cause even when the deck is off and you detach the remote wire from the amp it still stays on.... so it must be something internal.... its under warranty still so i'll check that out
