changing the exhaust
im doing a swap from a d series ek to a b20. im not sure wat size exhaust is on the ek DX model but i know it needs to be bigger, im thinking of putting 2.5" exhaust for the b20 but im not sure if i should put the exhaust on after the swap or before the. if i do it before there is gunna be fitment issues as where if i do it after i was told its not good for the b20 to be on such a small exhaust so im not sure what i should do. any tips or suggestions would be good

I would suggest:
Ask the place doing your swap if they did exhaust. Then have them do with the swap. 2.5 is a little big (and loud), unless you're boosting. Have you looked at 2" or 2 1/4 tops.
Where the problem would lay is the manifold from the D series compared to the manifold from the B series. While I would assume they'd be close, I'm not sure if they'd fit.
Also, if they can do your swap, then they're going to complete your exhaust to the standard EK exhaust. So if your exhaust was already done to your larger diameter, they should be able the complete your exhaust.
If you're doing this yourself, I'd limp to an exhaust shop after the swap. Sure your engine can't breathe, but it would only be temporary. I'm tired and rambling... hope something in there counts for anything.

Hell I drove my car for a long while with a header that had all 4 runners crushed to 2/3s of its actual size...to 1.8" ID, which is stock eg hatch midpipe...to 2.5" axle back. Still ran awesome times at the track...
Now have 2.5" all way back and couldn't be happier. Yeah, its a bit louder, but nothing a bigger resonator can't fix.
Moreover, its not bad for the engine to run with small exhaust, it will just be restrictive and a bit slower.
Wait for swap to be over, since some b series headers have longer or shorter downpipes depending on which engine It came off/was meant for. Since header isn't the same flange pattern for d vs b, just wait and do it after.
Anything around 2.25"-2.5" will be good size to go with.
