Where to start for performance???

What kind of performance can I expect from a stock Honda Civic (quarter mile)
I would like to get to add to its performance. Where are the places to start?

What kind of stock Honda Civic do you have? Year, model? You can start off with the common.. intake, header, exhaust and work your way up. Depends how far you want to go.. many go for the swap thing, but that depends on your budget and your need for speed.

which model is your civic?

stock times run from 15-17+ for civics in the 1/4 mile

a good mod to start with is a cold air intake. its cheap and you'll get some gains plus great sound

but if you really want speed, you're probably better off doing an engine swap.

I currently have a 94 civic pretty base 5 speed, car
I would like to test the limits of this car from a quarter mile stand point. I would like 13's.
I am a fairly handy wrencher.

My thought were around a home made turbo setup, I am used to normally aspired american cars and I would like to try the benefits of a turbo. I believe that the stock honda should have the capacity to withstand some decent improvements

if you want 13's you're probably better off doing a swap first and then turbo if you want

If you have a base model civic.. you're not going to get too far with a turbo.. You'll be able to achieve 14s, but 13s will be a little far fetched.. trust me.. this is not only coming from my experience but I'm sure there are plenty others who can vouch.

I'm sure most handy wrenchers can piece together a turbo kit for their car, provided they have all the necessary parts.

Good luck and have fun

Nothing wrong with the vehicle... It's just the motor that's the weak link.. If the body is in good shape.. heck.. keep it.
