looking for a complete swap for my non-Vtech 98 SI. the only D-series i could find is the D15 for a 95. checked Option,Tiger,Teck, and a few local junk yards. any help at all would be appreciated.

If you haven't already, try posting something in the Want to Buy section of the forum. That's where I found mine after I blew up the old one....

I found a '00 y8 out of a 1.6 EL with around 85,000 kms for $400. Much cheeper than what I was quoted at some shops for the y8, z6 and even the D15.

nice find man!!. just afraid of getting someone elses headaches(railed on) so was kinda looking for something new(for eventual boost) but ill post it up and see what happens. thnx bro

just my 2 cents...if your goin for potential boost like i will be doing come summer on a d16y8 is buyin a cheap one and just rebuild the block with some nice shiny forged pistons easy cheap build nothin to fancy.

found a JDM D16 block for 200. freshly imported. not bad eh? just finding a head will be the prob. found one supposedly rebuilt,port and polished. they did it themselves tho so im not sure about that. they are asking 400 for the head. not sure thats a good deal or not because they are kinda tough to come by

no, wait it out... often Y8 blocks spin their bearings and you can get the whole thing cheap, then just take the head and rebuild it.

well im thinkin of picking up the block for something to tinker with. this is my first project so im still learning. ive heard so many different opinions on the best base to turbo so its hard to decide. wanna keep this project at around 3Gs total maybe less if i can get away with it so the Bseries is outta the question.
