VTEC not engaging

Normally my vtec kicks in at 5650 rpm or so. I can clearly hear the pitch in the sound changing and feel the difference in power.

But over the past 2 days i noticed my vtec isn't kicking in. This happens in 1st and 2nd gear. In 3rd everything seems to be fine. Haven't tried the vtec in 4th and 5th in the last 2 days.

Vtec does not kick in at all in 1st gear, and in 2nd gear it kicks in around 6100 rpm. But in 2nd gear it seems like it engages then disengages, then engages again. It feels sorta like a clutch slipping.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? i'm thinking its my wiring or ecu screwing up, and i'm gonna try to reset my ecu over the next 30 mins and see what happens. Any help is appreciated

Your VTEC works for 3rd Gear but not 1st or 2nd Gear?

you should stick to what u usually put in there, i always use 10w 30 mobil 1 synthetic, if your running synthetic you really do need to get it changed

juss got an oil change. VTEC works and everything is better now

As for the oil...i got some Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 (b4 i read ur post eth0r) cuz its thicker, its better for summer and for newer engines.

Thanks for all the input.

Ya just to add to that. The Vtec works best with Mobil 1 synthetic old.

Your Vtec should enable in all gears by the way.

it probably wasn't engaging in 1st and 2nd because the oil pressure wasn't building up properly... but in 3rd with the higher load on the engine the pressure would build up and vtec would engage

just for the record, 5W30 is thinner than 10W30... only at start up tho.
