By your engine code I venture to say you have a 96-2000 Civic LX. If the tranny is coming out of any 92-00 Canadian Civic Si, it will work. It would be good to have a newer tranny...but any SOHC tranny will work just fine. Remember, these are hydraulic trannies, so you will need the clutch master and slave cylinders, the hydraulic lines, a bleeding kit, clutch and related goodies, and so much more...oh, and a manual ECU too. Am I forgetting anything guys???

The american 99-00 Si tranny and DOHC VTEC Del Sol is the only Civic trannys that will not work.

You will also need a throttle body because manual cars have different IACV (inlet air control valves). This is part if the reason for a different PCM. You will also need a different throttle cable.

I think that's about it. I am not sure what you have done to your ride but I think someone else posted that it would be a lot easier and cheaper to sell an automatic car and buy a manual version than doing a conversion. After seeing this list of parts, I would have to agree. Just my $0.02. (throttle bodies/PCMs/clutch master cylinders...are not cheap, never mind the tranny)

You're both wrong .. Team Ruckus has a 2000 SE which is pretty much a Canadian Ex which is also pretty much an American LX... it has the D16Y7 which is SOHC non-VTEC.. the D16Y8 is the SOHC VTEC...

like i said before man, you might (70% sure) need the tranny mount as well... this thing is expensive at honda.

it's definitely easier to just sell the car and buy a manual one but what if you've got all kinds of mods to it? it would cost more in labour to rip those parts off and transfer them to the new vehicle, depnding on how many and what type of parts of course, but you get the idea...plus sedimental value figures in alot too if you love your car.

juggles, i have to disagree with you on your comment. the SE does not come with power mirrors or locks which makes it the bottom end sedan, i have an american lx and it came with all the options, it is a canadian ex.

Sry anson your wrong!

The lx was the bottom end civic for the 6th in canada
the se was the middle class whoch included a/c , power door locks and i think cd player
the ex was fully loaded so technically jugglez is right on his comment. Now your lx has power options cuz its a 98 the 99/00 came different.

Hey Team Rukus,

To make sure without going to see the guy with the tranny, have him list all the parts. You can ask him if he is including some of the things we mentioned. You don't necessarily have to know what they are, just ask.
ie.
- clutch master cylinder
- clutch slave cylinder
- clutch hydraulic lines
- throttle body
- throttle cable
- transmission mount

You may get a response with you "only" get
- transmission
- shifter
- shifter linkages
- pedals
- clutch

Also some food for thought, if this person is giving a great deal, is there anything that could be wrong with it? Damaged synchros? Bent shift forks? These are things you won't know unless it is taken apart or...after it is installed.

How much have you done to your car? If it is a 2000 SE, you will void any remaining warranty you have left on it by this swap. (I believe the PCM and catalytic have warranty up to 8 years/130,000km.) IMO, you would save yourself a lot of headaches if you looked for a manual equipped car.

Regarding sedan "Trims" the Canadian LX was equivalent to the U.S. DX and the Canadian EX was equivalent to the U.S. LX which did come with power windows, even in 99/00. The U.S. LX isn't really "fully" loaded because the U.S. EX had the VTEC engine, sunroof, bigger brakes etc. Canada had the Acura 1.6 EL which in a way was comparable.

The SE? Well, it was an optioned up Canadian LX with A/C, remote keyless entry etc. I don't know if you noticed but in '99 "Special Edition" label was just a sticker. They made a proper badge for '00.

From the 7 gen of sedans, Canada and U.S. cars got equivalent trim names so, the top Canadian trim is now LX which is equivalent to the U.S. LX which has power windows/locks, cruise control etc.

Clear as mud?
