Tranny + Brake Experts
Im gonna replace my manual tranny and brake fluid this weekend.
I know how to replace both of the fluids, just not sure of what size(diameter) tube I need for filling tranny and for bleeding brakes. This is for a 99 Civic SiR
Basically,
1) What size tube do I use to bleed the brakes ?
2) What size tube do I use to fill the manual transmission?
]Thanks alot,

I need to know what size tube to use to BLEED the brakes, not to fill the master cylinder. AND im gonna use the fill hole for my tranny, which is located on the bottom of the tranny, which makes it impossible to use a funnel. In the Honda manual, it says to use a tube for both bleeding the brakes, and to fill the tranny. Im just not sure which size(diameter) fits the best.

So I found my answer:
A 3/8” hose, 1-2 feet long, is used to bleed the brakes.
Attach one end to the bleeder valve of the caliper, and place the other end directly into the brake fluid in the clear jar.

using the fill hole to fill the tranny is messy and overly difficult. Fill it through the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) hole in the top of the tranny. it is right under the intake. remove the VSS (looks like a mini distributor) and fill through that hole using a funnel until fluid flows out of the fluid level check hole on the side.

Have you tried getting a VSS out of a 10+ year old car? Sometimes it's not the easiest thing.
Either way, I'd use the fill plug, just get a flexible funnel line

mine does... changes its own oil... you can tell when its working because of the blue smoke out he back... lol...
and yeah, removing the VSS is a *****... hahhaa, my buddy bled all over my tranny smashing his hand tryiing to take one of those 3 bolts off of it... what a pain in the ***.
you guys should use my method... take a water bottle, tape and a piece of rubber tubing... cut the top of the bottle off stick the tube in the nozzle and start taping... then stick the tube in the check plug hole and start filling...
or bryce's method which uses the traditional funnel, but bryce enjoys using 4 bendable straws shoved in the hole of the funnel and taped together... slow as **** though.
