MS EXCEL Experts...$NAME? error

Hello,

i'm supporting an issue where we have a function that retrieves data from the database but the results comes into the cell as $NAME?
this seems to be environment related as not all machines using the same excel sheet has this problem. Any ideas why this is returning???

wrong forumla or wrong character types in the cell?

You've probably got an invalid figure in a defined cell, for example, the cell could be defined as a number, but a letter is placed in the cell
