My buddy has a 01 civic sedan and doesn't have a tach....... he was looking at getting a tach to go on the A-pillar. The one he was looking at has a redline of 6.5

Is that enough for his car, or should he get one that goes to like 8k rpm? I'm sure he won't be taking it up to 8 anyways, but would it make a difference?

i have a 7thgen civic also...my redline starts @ 6900 rpm and all the way to like 8500 rpm

And I believe that if you have a non vtec engine, the car will cut out a 7000 rpm's

oh so the only way for him to go any higher than 7k rpm is if he got the rev limiter removed.......... which wouldn't make any sense anyways if he's not running v-tec

As far as I know, non vtec engines don't have the same rev limiter as vtec engines do, the engine just cuts out like the speed limiter.

oh for real? wow. well I know my buddy's not into rev'n the car up to 7K anyways, so maybe that 6.5k tach will suit him just fine?
