struts question

i heard that koni yellow can be used to lower a drop-in springs a little bit more than the suggested drop height. is this true? also is this true for koni yellow only or for other aftermarket struts as well?

only Koni Sport (yellow) and yes it's true... the spring perch has 3 settings, the lowest of which allows a 25mm drop on top of that of the spring (so an extra INCH of drop)

thx
i just found neuspeed struts (made by koni) on ebay for 500 usd. the application number is either 8041.1152SP3 or 8041.1240SP3. is this as good as koni yellow? what are the differences? i'm looking to be used with neuspeed race. with this, will it still be bounchy?

no idea... neuspeed would have spec'd out their own valving to Koni, so who knows what they're matched for... call Neuspeed with the part number and ask what springs they recommend use with. they'll prolly give you some sales b-s, but some of the info may be useful.

IMO, getting illuminas or koni yellows is the smart choice, or just stright up coilovers like Omnipower, Progress, or H&R.

i agree with bbarbulo getting illumina's or koni yellow's is the smart choice. There are probably 20 people on here that will testify for illumina's and another 20 people for koni yellow's. I have illumina's and they are great.
Why spend $500 and take a chance? I'd rather pay the little extra for the ones we already know are good.
Ur so SMRT bbarbulo. lollol

bbarbulo, you've been a huge help for me (and other people as well of course) and i really thank you for that as i learned quite a bit until now. i've contacted the guy and he said that the neuspeed struts indeed using koni yellow. so i guess it boils down to 2 choices now. either i get the neuspeed/koni struts and lower it an inch (which will close the wheel gap for sure) or get a tein basic. the only concern right now is which of these 2 options will have longer lifespan of the shocks?
i'll probably be using the car for another 2-3 years.

thanks again

both should have great lifespan... I am for Koni yellows however, as I believe west europe makes better dampers (shocks) than the Japanese... and it's the only thing they make better. That's why most of the big names in racing shock tech are from western europe (Germany, Switzerland, etc...) ie. Eibach, H&R, Koni, Bilstein, Ohlins, etc.
