squishy brakes
I took my car in to get my brakes fixed because even though I could brake fine, I had to press really far to brake, like almost to the floor.
They said they just "adjusted them" (I didn't know you could just adjust brakes) and they weren't as good as I would have liked but were a heck of a lot better. So it's been a few weeks now and my brakes have slowly gone back to the way they were before. I've check my pads and rotors and they are just fine, I tried bleeding my brakes before I took my car in and that only improved it a little. Any ideas what's wrong?

Just did mine. Same symptoms.
New master cylinder (Honda rebuilt at Canadian Tire -- $112.00) helped lots.
Scott, resident CSI and Hond Tech virtuoso, mentioned that the odd Civic can only be helped with a booster...

yes, old or dirty brake fluid can also be the cause. But, likely, it sounds as tho you may have a sticky caliper or, air in the brake lines or a capooted master cylinder. They probably adjusted the rear drums and cleaned them out in order to raise the braking cusp on the pedal. But, if you master cylinder is out, there is only one thing you can do and it is replace it. Hope that helps.

Cool man, I'm gonna try changing the brake fluid and all that other stuff just in case it's not my master cylinder, first.
Does that prelude master cylinder just bolt on or would I have to modify anything? I'll let you know if I need it, thanks

do you have rear brake drums??
if so
then they can adjust the rear brakes and the e brake which would cause the point at which your brakes grabto be moved further towards the start of the pedal travel

I am stuck in this boat as well, Front brakes are 6 months old,(cross drilled/slotted + new honda pads) rears (Drums) not even 1 month. I want to avoid doing a M/C swap and Booster. Are there any other alternatives to increase pedal feel? My parents Neon stops better and it's Auto. I would only do a brake flush if it was for certain to improve things.
Cynikal:
Same question about that Prelude M/C. Will it bolt right on to a 4th gen?

Who knows what the hell they did when they "adjusted" your brakes. I would say that the first thing to do is Bleed the brakes and get any air out. I find that too many people don't bleed the lines properly and leave air trapped in there.
If that doesn't work, THEN think about Master brake cylinder.
Do the easier(and cheaper) job first
