Springs Or Coilovers??

hey just wondering what you would prefer springs or coilovers? I heard coilovers are a little more bouncy cause they have less support, is that true? What do you recommend and what brand?

depends if you plan on going on track or autocross..

if it's more for everyday driving and you just want some fun from time to time than go springs/shocks combo

I considered coilovers but yes, they are way too bouncy, good for adjustments etc.. for racing, but not for everday use or long road trips..

I'm getting my car done this week.. Koni Yellow's and Eibach springs

i like the eibach springs, i've only heard good things about them, but without the after market shocks, i wouldn't be able to go more then 2.0f 1.8r. Then h & r , i wouldn't be able to go more then 1.75 all around, then neuspeed has 2.25f 2r (which i like), but i haven't heard good things about them

Eibach is good and reliable.. and the Sportline Kit for my car at least only drops 1.4" all around.. which is conservative incase I get a body kit..

however the Koni Yellows I'm getting have perch adjustments allowing me to drop maybe another 0.5" so 1.9" total after both get installed..

but don't JUST get springs to lower a car.. I would always change the shocks/struts at the same time.. otherwise you will lack performance/comfort

i see, but the shocks are a lot of money, all i want right now is to fill the ugly wheel wells up, then later put the shocks.

yes.. shocks are expensive, but well worth the price I think.. your car will handle a million times better..

well.. it's up to you.. if you really can't stand the gap, than get fatter tires =]

or just get the springs and live with the bumpiness/harsh ride..

check out Koni's website.. I think it describes why someone should get their shocks if they were planning to lower their car

I just installed H&R Sport springs with Koni Reds.
Ride is pretty good, I can't really compare to anything since Ive never tired other setups.

I suggest going Spring and shock combo. Even if ya gotta wait for the shocks. Coilovers don't go well with our Canadian weather (ie. the winter) not to mention they usually don't provide a smooth ride.

I wish some of you would do a search.

This subject has been put through the wringer.

Bouncy ride has to do with how low you go, and if the struts/shocks are old and worn out.

Plain and simple.......go to low, bouncy rough ride.........struts old and worn.......same.....bouncy.

That's becuse most people DON"T take the time to take care of them properly.....ie......grease/coat them.

As for the smooth ride.........9/10 times, the shocks/struts are at fault becuse they gave out.......why.......9/10 because the person went to low.
