Question simple turbo plan...fuel managment questions

My car is a D16z6 powered Delsol and i am planning to boost it to about 7 psi MAX with simple bolt ons. Internals will be stock so i want to make sure that i have taken care of fuel issues so that i am not having detonation or starvation.

i am not looking to make retarded power and i will not be installing a boost controller to tempt me to increase the boost. so don't say that the block and internals won't be able to handle boost, I've seen stock honda's with edlebrock kits run for years and never have an issue based on the fact that everything was included in the kit that was needed.

i think my plan has everything taken care of but fuel.

in this post i want to fill in some blanks i have in my plan about fuel issues. i plan on using a larger injector and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator but as the car is daily driven i want to make sure that it idles well and runs right

my setup so far is basically going to be based on a Garret T3-T4 hybrid with an internal garret waste gate. the turbo is brand new and i have got a equal length supported manifold and a mandrel bent down pipe that all bolt up directly to my motor and current exhaust. I'm planning a simple FMIC with a generic setup of pipes and silicone/polyester connections and t clamps holding it all together. Oil lines will be simple and straight forward with a t fitting up top and and a tapped oil pan down below (the turbo isn't water cooled so that's not an issue). with all the connections made and the kit installed with a simple intake on the turbo fashioned from my current short ram the kit alone should be very simple and make the car a little more fun to boot around in as my daily driver but i still haven't decided on fuel system modifications so that's where i want opinions.

now the approach to this whole install is KEEP IT AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. the less there is involved in this kit the happier i will be with it.

many articles have been written about this stuff and it seems that the stock fuel system can easily be upgraded with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, new injectors, a larger fuel pump and a a fuel pressure gauge on the rail to allow for observation of the changes to the car under boost.

my plans are as follows

-VORTECH FMU 12:1 spring
-DSM injectors (350's or 440's not sure
-which will work best)
-Walbro fuel pump (already in)
-Oil filled fuel pressure gauge

my main concerns are simple

-i want a nice smooth idle
-i don't want my motor to be starved of fuel.

i don't want comments from haters or newbs that aren't being helpful so if you haven't read everything above please don't reply.

Too much to read.

I just saw FMU and dsm's.

Ditch the fmu, its a brutal way of tuning fuel. Get your obd1 ecu chipped by zeeman and get it streetuned or dyno-tuned (or both) with cromepro. Use the dsm 450's though and wire in a resistor pack (which i have if you want it)

Do not use an fmu or a hack (v-tec ctrller, safc, etc) to tune.

Yup...

On a side note...I ran a stock d16z6 for 3 years without any real problems.
1st year - 5psi greddy kit + FMU
2nd year - 7psi greddy kit + FMU
3rd year - 7-10psi on a AFC hack

Motor was pulled after the 3rd year to make way for a semi built d16z6@15psi.

FMU's are garbage.
If you want a good smooth idle don't use DSMs (they suck IMO).
Get a 255lph fuel pump and some 440+cc injectors and get it tuned with crome....can't get any simpler than that. Maybe an adjustable FPR and guage if you want to (not needed though IMO).

IMO you don't need the fuel pump if you want to run 7 psi. I have been using a stock fuel system for a 3 years now problem free (currently 12 psi) with DSM 450's and a chipped p28. An adjustable FPR is also a waste of time as the the stock Honda units are perfect for your application.

My tuner (Paul @ Neetronics ) chipped and dyno tuned my ECU with a program called Techtom. If your looking to save some cash have it chipped and street tuned instead of dyno tuned as dyno time is not cheap.

pauul at neetronics is a good guy, i've met him while a friend was tuning a supercharged solara there... but the costs were outta my budget for this one i think...

zeeman seems to be the man to go to for street tuning on this forum but i also hear nick at tecknotic is known for great pricing for simple turbo tunes
