Rotors

back to the main topic, i have powerslot rotors and i noticed that etched into the edge is the brembo name and copyright. Im assuming this means that the rotors are actually made by brembo, them coated by powerslot?

One of the ideas behind cross drilled or slotted rotors are that the wholes or slots disapate the gasses that can and are created when braking. The harder and heavier you are braking the more gases that can be created and can build up. Day to day driving, you will almost never be able to experience this, but when track racing or other types you can and they do expereince this. These gases build up between the rotor and the brake pad. When this occurs this is called "brake fade". When this happens, your pads will no longer come in contact with your rotors, casuing you not to be able to stop, due to you not being able to compress the gas. The slots or holes that are in rotors help disapte these gases and stop them from being trapped in the space between the pads and the rotors. So yes they also look cool and yes they can also "do" something for your vehicle.
Race cars/teams don't use them 'casue they look cool, they use them 'casue they "help" win.

bbarbulo - before your rant about this topic - The point of what I was saying is still vaild the "idea" behind the rotors.........thats how I started what I said. But yes, on a day to day, all they will do is look "cool".
Im sure they didn't make this car with them 'casue it only looks cool though.....germans don't make cars like this casue it looked cool or felt like peeing money away.....they have them 'cause they do something.

what they do is increase surface area of the rotor to give it better cooling abilities... NOT so much to 'vent gas' LOL
some Porsches and some Jags also come with 'crossdrilled' rotors, not just AMG. but again, it's to increase surface area and help airflow through the vents that you'll find in the middle of a vented rotor.

So by having holes or slots you increase the surface area of a disc? Uhmmm......wouldn't removing material from the disc "decrease" the surface area the pad has to grab?
But then again, isn't this what I had said previously.......They are there to disapate gas build up and heat??????? Yes, yes I think I did................................... but nice try at a recovery.

it's true what bbarbulo said those ebc grees stuff pads are horrible i have them with powerstop cross drilled rotors and i will never go back to x-drilled again i am going to stick with the brembo blanks and maybe hawk pads.

I run the KVR drilled cad plated rotors and have no issues summer/winter use with high perf Carbotech pads.

YOU insisted at first that the holes allow pad gasses to escape. which is still incorrect in our cases b/c of the boiling point of our brake fluid.
now for real... I'm not wasting anymore time with you and your stupidity. I feel like I'm explaining microbiology to a 3 year old.
BTW, why dont' you tell us what your setup is??

smart man here... learned from experience.

once again ct "premium" blanks with monroe's works great and was cheap...they bite hard when cold but haven't really got a chance to beat them to fade but they are good in relation to oem standards..dont' really know how hard and hot I can get them to where the co efficient of friction goes south.

On a daily driver, I don't see the big difference. Did you guys have bad experiences with CT brakes in the past? I used thier rotors on my old VW's and I never had a problem with them. I found Brembo Balnks from one of our affiliates for cheap, but for the price I could buy new front rotors and rear drums from CT. I'll be using them with OEM pads when I change them next week. The quality of the pads is more important then the quality of the rotor.

He mentioned CT blanks with menroe's...
Sure they're fine for daily driving... of course OEM's are also okay for daily driving that's what the manufacters have in mind...
But that means you obviously don't sometimes get aggressive on the street or ever take it to the track. Cuz that's when you really feel the diff. Sunday driving babies stock replacement parts
no pun intended

I cant believe how streetwise cant see how wrong he is. Not only that, he wont accept it when he is prooven wrong. By trying to recover over and over, streetwise ruined any credibility he had about this issue at all. Just accept it when you are wrong and stop trying to ****** false information that will most likely influence people to go out and buy useless products.
