Oil level has nothing to do with the oil light, if there is enough oil to get into the pump the light should go off. The sensor is a pressure switch, when the oil light comes on that means there is no pressure, so if your oil light is staying on just after you start the car it takes that long to build enough pressure to turn the light off. Don t worry too much about that, its normal to do that if you are using a thick oil or have an engine with lots of milage on it.

I have been wondering about the same thing and Scott saves the day, again.

This explains my question, since I am using Motul 300V 5W40, sorta thick I believe.

Its fine, does it make noise??? if not then dont worry so much about it. and if you want to change the oil pressure you can stretch the spring in the regulator but it is counterprodutive, too much pressure is a bad thing. remember on start up there is no pressure. When the engine starts to spin, it starts to pressurize the engine, and if the engine hasnt been running for a while it will take some time to get into every gallery. So with that said, every gallery has to be full of oil and oil pressure to get the light to go off, its like when you turn the water off in your house or somthing, and you turn it back on the tap coughs a little till you get pressure, thats the same thing. So again, dont worry about it. When your oil light comes on while driving over bumps and such, then worry!!!
