oil burning and black oil

i have a b18c recently installed in my hatch and after sorting a few things out its starting to run well now, but its seems to be burning oil for some reason... i put fresh oil in and withing a day or 2 its like black already and for some reason goes down very quickly... seriously, probably a aquart every 700km or so... but there is no blue smoke or anything coming out... it seems to burn pretty clean. also, i am only getting like 300km or so on a 37 litre tank in gas on 94 or even 91... any ideas why its so low? even driving it carefully.

is it leaking? maybe from the cam seal, oil pan gasket or rear main seal. Check to see if there is any oil on the ground after you park over night. If its burning oil you would prolly see a little blue smoke out of your exhaust.
And 300kms to a tank of gas....oh my, maybe you need a tune up.

not really, thats what i have been really checking... i mean my driveshafts are in not great shape so i am really taking it easy, but the oil is still going... i am barely hitting vtec... usually not even.. and i keep a close eye on the oil all the time now and it still goes down... but i don't really see oil underneath the car... but i also don't really see blue smoke either.

I doubt you are leaking that much oil..

You generally won't see much blue smoke unless you are in direct sunlight.. Best thing would be to get a compression and possibly a leakdown test done.. you'll know what the condition is for sure then.

i get around 300 km to a tank also id say its normal on 94. but then again i have a 2.0 l bottom and build sir skunk 2 head.

Another place thats common for leakage is the the vtec solonid seal.

300km? should get better than that even with a built 2L, unless you romp on it all day.
Sounds like you need some partial throttle tuning. I doubt paul did that, he doesn't have a steady state dyno and uses a wideband that gets shoved up the exhaust (from what i've seen when i was there). So unless you specifically stated that you wanted your car street tuned i doubt he tuned anything other than the WOT portion of the maps.

I get between 300-350km to a tank city driving with a built B18c. 300km to a tank isnt that bad for a little 37L tank thats only 12.3 per 100km. but on a stock motor it doesnt sound quite right. Are you running a stock ecu? or a "chipped" ecu? General chipped ecu's tend to dump way more fuel than needed. As for the oil consumption a compression and leak down test is your best bet.

i just want to get this thing up and running worry free... almost there... just the tranny, but that shouldn't be more than a few days... i was just talking so some honda mechanic and he said it could be anything, but he also said oil is cheaper than a rebuild... but, i'd rather not have to do either...

you seem to be having lots of problems with this swap.
who did it for you? how much did you pay? did you have any history of the motor and where it came from? how many kms are on it?

well, i am going to check the oil again today and it was halfway between the dots sat and i drove about 200 km since then... so, we'll see today how far down it is... lets see...

the motor should have 80k on it...

I would honestly check around the cam plug.. You might see oil dripping from where you distributor is down your tranny. Also look for wet spots around your valve cover and oil pan. In all honesty you should quicky get that motor tested and see if that is the main cause. You shouldn't have to pay for a rebuild, otherwise the seller of the engine ripped you off. Do the right thing off the bat man before more problems arise. Take it from me, I've been there and I am still dealing with small things from my swap 2 years ago.

yup!!! i think you might wanna ask these question to the seller!! if you would have bought the motor from teknotik or some shop that sells jdm motor they would replace it no problem....i know you prolly got a good deal for the motor, but cheap sometimes sucks!!!
