NEED opinion on tires!!

i have a 1998 4cyl accord i'm looking for tires that are either

205/40/17
215/45/17
235/45/17

17" x 7"

I have four choices

Fuzion HRI $535
Hankook H405 $550
Kuhmo 711 $530
Falken 512 $530

What should i get?? i want something with good handling and will not wear out as fast.

scratch the 512 off that list then because they're a soft compound tire and wear pretty quick. i'm running on them right now.

Good handling and won't wear out fast?? haha...

I suggest you re-think that statement.

Personally I'd go with the falken 512's for handling, but if you really want my honest opinion. I'd choose none of these tires.

As for tire width, I'm not too familar with how wide you can go with an accord, so I'd say 215 to be on the safe side. If you are dropped or plan to drop the car, 235 might be a little too wide.

My suggestion would be to get some good tires like Toyo proxes 4's or Yokohama Es100. Why waste your money on crappy tires. Remember, your tires are one of the most important things on your car, if not the most important.

Good tires help you improve handling, braking, and acceleration.

I guess its your car, so you do whatever you feel is necessary.

btw, I have proxes 4's on my car. They are great tires. Even driven them in snow one time, and they handled better than my stock tires did...lol.

i say def scrap the idea of kumho and falken.

kumhos have been known to develop sidewall buldges, and falken I know tend to lose their grip after a lil bit of wear. I've had several sets of falken, and unless you get Azenis, they are not that good.

as for the other two, I have no personal experience.

What would be some good tires, that would cost me around $500-600 ( including balancing fitting and all thats stuff.) I do not want to order from the States because i'm sick and tired in paying customs taxes. So anything from Toyo or Yokohama (or any other brand) you guys would recommend on a low budget.

thanks

for 17s its going to be expensive. unless you want to goto canadian tire where they're selling 17 inch HRP tires or something like that. my uncle just got them done for 500 and they're pretty sticky but i think they have a pretty short life because of that.

I can help you out since I just bought tires of this size. Wheels Direct quoted me Kumho 712 for $500 Installed. They are a pretty good budget tire. I actually bought Kumho Ecstsa ASX's they are very good on wear, but handling could be better, the side walls are a but on the soft side, much like the 712. I actually saved myself around $200 Canadian on Tires ordering online. Here's the trick. If you order from Tirerack.com you can have the tires shipped to a US location.

I went to Niagara Falls on the Weekend and basically had the tires shipped to this place called Rainbow service and Tire Outlet. They installed the tires for a price and I took them across the border on my car without having to pay customs It worked out extremely well for me and next time I'll be able to get something that is a better overall tire with all the savings from buying online.

For budget Performance Tires the best reviewed Tires I saw were the Fuzions ZRi ( I think), Sumitomo HTR Z II, 712's Were well rated. Other then that if you want really good performance You usually have to sacrifice Tread Wear. That's why I decided to go with an Ultra Performance All Season like the ASX's ... Long Lasting Tread Wear with some perfomance like attributes. As well as they are quieter and much more comfortable then any other Summer Performance tire I have used. Again you have to sacrifice some performance and handling for that.

lol what? I said Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s were $500 from Wheels Direct.. I bought Kumho Ecsta ASX's from TIRERACK.COM which I don't think OK TIres sells for $588 installed cause I had called them. And I bought mine for around $425 Canadian installed ... so ahem that's still about $200 Savings considering the tax you would have to pay on them from OK Tires. OKTires is alright but definetly not the cheapest. Ecsta 712 from Tirerack and installed across the border would be about $414 Canadian

So I am guessing Younes Si payed the premium $588 from OK tires for his 712's could have saved himself a little over $150 Awww .. maybe yours were made with gold dust. But seriously I probably would have done the same as hima nd bought them here if I weren't going to Niagara Falls on a trip just makes more sense.
