Tonight on the way home from Wendys. i stepped on the breaks and noticed i had to push down real hard to stop now. If im going along and press ont he breaks somehwhat hard at first they feel ok, but right after i press on them i feel the pedal going in and in more feelign softer, untill i feel it almost hits the end.

If i slightly press on the breaks (slow stop, traffic slowing ahead) i feel the pedal go in right away and feels like it almost goes right to the floor before it gets hard.

Am i imagining things or is there soemthing wrong with this?

Check the brake fluid.

This is driving me crazy, it only happens when i have my foot on the pedal for awhile at a stop sign or something, i actually hit the floor after having my foot on the pedal for awhile, its like the liquid just squirted outta the lines, but when I push on them first time there fine for the first few pushes on the pedal.

What kind of car do you have?

I had a similar problem with my 93 civic, whenever press on the brakes slowly the basically go to the floor, but if I slam on them its strong, turns out it was the master cylinder.

With the car off, pump the brakes until stiff and hold the pedal. If the pedal starts sinking, it means you have a failed master cylinder. If there's no pressure at all, then your booster is out the door (unlikely for Honda).

If it's neither, then get your brakes bled. You might have air in the system.

I have been really watching the breaks now, and i notice that:

-When the pedal gets really mushy and i end up pressing it all the way to the floor, one side of the car dips down, as if not all breaks are being used, or one stronger than the other.
-When i pushed it to the floor, i skidded but it seemed only from one of the tires, its very odd.

I will try the pedal with the car off and let you guys know, thanks. Ohh topped up the break fluid to almost the MAX line but no diff.

Uhm, that doesn't sound right. Shouldn't it be just below the upper level line (as in full?).

Anywayz, top up the master cylinder and press the brakes all the way to the floor a few times. Then roll your car back a little, and see if there is any brake fluid on the ground. If there is obviously one of your brake lines has a hole in it and needs to be replaced. Also re-check your master cylinder to see that the fluid that you put in there is still there.

Tried that, If i push hard on the breaks, and keep it hard, they dont push it very much, but if i let off the pressure a bit then they sink in alot.

When I had that...it was the master brake cylinder that went....nothing to screw around with....I would bring it in the get checked.

At honda that runs you about $600-$800.....probably a little less at your local shop....part costs nothing...it's all labour. The shitty thing is in my old civic they went twice...once when I put the thing in storage for 4 months and the other about 3 years ago.

i just had the same problem with my brakes, i had to bleed them...its not that hard...just get a friend to sit in your car when its partially jacked up, and release some fluid from each line and seal it back up..

Sounds to me like your master cylinder is going as mentioned above. My friend had a similar problem with his Integra and it was the master cylinder.

Wow it was alot of things. Tunrs out the master cylinder was shot, we need new rotors on the front, new brake pads, and the drums in the back need to be sanded down or soemthing cause there too shiny??

We gota do alot of other work to it, so my family decided we mine as well just sell it after we get the brakes done.

So hopefulyl we will have a new car in the future.
