too light of a fly wheel is a bad thing for a daily driver is it not? your revs will drop too much and you will lose too much momentum won't you?

meh, only if you're a crappy driver. But yes the rpms drop quicker with a lighter flywheel....even when you just take your foot off the gas, the car slows down quicker.

yeah but for dd i don't think i'll be trying to shift as fast as i can. lol i wouldn't know though, i've never driven a car with a lightened flywheel.

Lol, i don't know about you guys, but I kinda have a heavy foot....... every stop light for me is an adventure so the idea of rpm's spooling up faster is music to my feet. (I say feet cuz i gotta use both of 'em lol)

Also i suppose if the engine spools down quicker also, i guess it's also helpful in worst case scenarios when downshifting is required to slow down quickly.......? (spotting a cop)

rpms spooling up faster? you mean REV. an engine does not spool. and a heavy foot doesn't mean you will can shift faster. a light weight flywheel doesn't make your car faster does it? it requires less effort to spin the flywheel so that would just mean better response wouldn't it? and less mass means it won't be able to carry the momentum as much so it will slow down faster as soon as you let off the gas. someone correct me if im wrong.

lol, when i say heavy foot, it means i like to drive fast, I'm not necessarily talking about shift times. A lighter flywheel means your car picks up speed faster, in essence making every stop light more of an adventure.......

SayjaiBao, what you're saying sounds right, I'm not a technical guy so it's not for me to say you're wrong.

well a lightened flywheel will help your acceleration...decreasing rotational mass will do that...i.e. lighter wheels, lightened flywheel, lighter rotating assembly (rods, pistons, crank).
SaYjAiBaO:
what your saying is correct. Its quite noticable how much quicker you slow down, when off the throttle, with a lightened flywheel. Goes the same for acceleration.

So, Zeeman, would you consider it a disadvantage if the car noticably decreases speed when you come off the throttle? Just trying to weigh the pro's and cons.........

There's probably still more of an advantage than dis, right?

there isn't enough rotational mass to keep the wheel spining, so the engine has to work harder pushing your car up a hill? someone correct me if i'm wrong, but with a lighter flywheel they have a slight problem putting the power to the wheels going up hills....

Yes, the pros outweight the cons. You'll get used to driving with the lighter flywheel.

nothing like going up the skyway at 6500rpms at 100km/hr.
4th on a b16 @ 100km/hr will get your rpms high enough.
