Lately I've been hearing a ringing type of noise coming from my CAI.... I'm confused as to how I should approach this. I obviously already checked to see if everything is tightened. I have an AEM CAI with the bypass valve.

I'm almost certain that this is not coming from the tranny. Its a semi loud ring sound, its like... RRRIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
sorta like a high pitched humming sound. Its hard to describe.

So what should I do? (Its goin to the shop tomorrow for a valve adjustment, and I'll be asking my buddy whose a mechanic, but other opinions are greatly appreciated).

check to see if it is rattleing off the body where the pipe goes through into the fender.

That's the intake taking in air..

Yeah its not rattling, thats one of the 1st things I looked for too.

So that noise is normal ?

Ya, I hear it in the Saturn... the Civic has a stock intake so it's all muffled. Normal.

Wow I'm releaved. At first I thought it was the tranny.
I'm glad its nothing to worry about.

Oh wait, I hear it in the Civic too sometimes, but much less noticably... usually only in second gear when I give it a little at low rpm, and it kinda rings...

mine old b16a did that whe you stepped on it at low rpm sounded like valves were chinking or something fooked up

I know this is an old thread, but I just thought of the possiblity of an aftermarket intake rattleing on the strut bar...just an idea, I know its a problem with the d16y7s cuz the throttle body is vertical, creating cleacance issues with strut bars... Probably not your problem since u have a b series
