Hey gang, would you mind answering a stupid question for a rookie here. My check engine light is on on my 1999 DX Hatch. How do I check the codes to determine what the cause is? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info...that's perfect. A quick question to confirm though...that info works for my 99 DX as well, correct?

i think you need to plug in an OBDII scan tool first to get the code

ditto... I have a 98 OBD2, and I always use a scanner tool, though I've heard others say they used the jumper method. I don't believe it though, cuz the service manual doesn't say anything about it... and it DOES say it for older cars like pre 96.
