has anybody ever matched up a 2.5' collector with a 2 1/4" or 3" to 2 3/4, etc.???

I bought a header with a 2.5" collector.. i just realized my cat was 2 1/4.. before I go and put it on I want to know what im getting myself into. A few guys have told me I need to weld on a flex joint or get a bottle neck welded on or something (which I dont wana do) I figured I would just drill out the holes a bit bigger so that the bolts line up and just toss in some gasket maker and call it a night.

Anybody have any experience?

yeah do that chris, it should be fine. it would probably work better though if you brought me back my damn wrenches you fool!

I have the opposite going on. My exhaust piping is 2.5", as well as my cat. When the cat meets the header, they made a flexpipe to adapt to the stock header size.
