My last car got close to 600 a tank 50/50 city and highway. 100% highway I could get close to 700 if I really pushed it past empty. That was a 98 LX. Now I get maybe 400.

i just watched that old honda road test video in the media section and it said that honda claims an overall fuel economy of 38 mpg with the b16 engine in an eg sedan, seems a little too high or is that just me

What exactly would need to be changed / tuned-up?

I used to get about 450-500 kms in my 97 EK hatch and now I can barely get 380-400.

With my 97 DX coupe I can get 550kms just in the city. I drove from London-->Mississauga and back (just under 400 clicks when it was all said and done) and I still have just over a quarter tank left

ignition components (plugs/wire/rotor/cap)

also you fuel filter should be changed every 70xxxkm

I've done the plugs/wires/rotor cap two years ago and since I've only put 20K on the car. I guess even if you don't drive a lot you should still change these components regularly.

As far as the fuel filter goes, I've only changed that once when I had 70K on it (maybe 6-7 years ago) and I got 166K on it now. I guess I'll have to change that and see what happens.

Anything else I should look for?

I think i get about 375-400 on a full tank of gas. A lot of stats in this thread are not comparable due to the difference in the size of the gas tank.

400KMs on an EK sedan may not be comparable to similar mileage on an EP3. 96-00 Civics (except SIR) have an 11 gallon (44L) gas tank i believe but i dont know the size on others.

The right comparison should be in terms of KMs driven per liter of gas or total liters per 100KMs (its the inverse). For eg. my 99 sedan gives me approximately 380KMs on a full tank so that will be 380KMs / 44L = 8.6KMs per liter

I know what you're saying, and I too am averaging over 8L/100km, which is way too high for an EK.

My car's EPA mileage estimates are 32MPG city and 37MPG highway. That translates into 7.35L/100km city and 6.36L/100km highway.
