New here. Question on gas mileage.

Hey Everyone,
I just bought a civic last month and have been lurking on this site reading and learning a lot about my car. It's a black 05 civic si (4dr auto).
So far the car is great with smooth and quick pickup. I like the way it handles as well.
I have been keeping an eye on the fuel consumption the last few fillups. I noticed that I'm getting from 570km to 600km per tank (40L) with 50% highway. I don't drive hard at all. Just wondering if this is normal and if I can do anything to get more mileage out of it.
What's everyone else getting?

You numbers are reasonable, there isn't much else to be done. Make sure to clear your car/trunk of clutter that doesn't belong in there. Added weight = more fuel used. Is your car stock? The only other major things I can think of are turbo/exhaust/rims+tires.

I get around the same on my 5 speed. I also have a small box and golf clubs that call the trunk home.

Lighten up on the pedal a bit, other than that there isnt much you can really do.

My wife has the same exact car as yours, but an '04 model. She gets exactly the same gas mileage and honestly there isn't much you can do to improve on that. I found the gas mileage on the '04 - '05 4 door Si sedan not to be as good as the same year LX/DX coupe 5 speed. My brother has the 5 speed coupe and he gets 650 - 700 kms per tank.

From what you've said, those numbers sound about the average...reasonable driving speeds & weight reduction (as were previously mentioned) might help minimally, but overall, what you listed seems about right.

try using fuel injector cleaners from CT... I use it once and awhile (3x/year), I think it works but only for high millage cars. warming up the car for a minute or two also works.. I find that the car runs much better when I wait a few mins before driving off.

if i beat my car i get about 250kms on a half a tank, so 500 clicks id say on a tank beating it...if i drive relaxed how i usually do i get about 700 or so to the tank.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah my car is stock right now with 15" stock rims.
I'll do a tuneup next month or so and will check if it makes any difference in the gas mileage.

I get 740-760 kms on a 99 civic coupe (1.6L) 5 speed 95% highway, speed not exceeding 120km/h, mostly 110 km/h.
