Engine Knock! Update..

K, Bbarb..

So i replaced the ECU, no deal same shiet..

I also got an ELD code.. Electrical Load Detector..

So I replaced that with a good one from an identical 93 SI and I was still gettin the ELD code.. I think I got something wrong with the wiring somewhere.. don't know where yet..

I think my problem may be associated with the ELD code.. wiring somewhere is F'd... It's weird though, I checked it over quite a few times before finalizing everything.. Man i wish i had the honda system to read all the sensor values real-time.. like hondata..

Ah well.. Aside from that, if I don't figure out the problems within 2 weeks, I'm gonna just chip the ecu. I've already bought an eprom programmer from ebay and got the spoon program for my ecu.

I'm gonna chip the **** and disable KS altogether

That's why OBD2 is king... I hook up a laptop to my ECU and see values real time. It'd be best that you redo the wiring for those two circuits... the ELD and the knock. I don't have the wiring diagrams, but check from connection to connection to figure out where it's gone wrong. I'd start on the sensor side and work toward the ECU.

Don't worry about code 20... it is triggered by your other code.

Is it a Scan Tool?
If so, how much did you pick it up for?
Mind if I borrow it?

My buddy and I split on it, so I think he'd mind if it left the city. However, it's real cheap at scantool.net I think... like about $70 USD or so, and then you just need a laptop. It's a SWEET tool.

See if a bunch of guys in your area wanna split one, cuz its not one of those tools that you need every day.

This code is always there.. when i short the clip, only code 20 comes up.. no engine light but it's there..

Then while driving, whenever it damn well feels like the Knock Sensor code is thrown and engine light comes on. Well that's not totally true.. If the car has been on for a while, you can pretty much always make it happen by going into vtec.. but even normal 3000 rpm shift driving will make it come up within a few mins.

I know that when the car is just been started in the morning it takes a while for it to happen.

I replaced the KS.
I disconnected it from ecu side.
I replaced the ECU.
I ran a fresh wire from KS straight to ecu.

and still no success.

What options do i have left besides chip the ecu.?

Are you CERTAIN that you have the correct pin in the ECU for the knock sensor... I mean, correct plug, correct pin position...

Oh, and is the engine noisy??

all the engine mounts are nice and tight ... how much engine movement is there when you open up the throttle ? how much movement is there when VTEC kicks in?

Bbarb,

really man most places are stupid. They don't know either, they have to sit and test just like I would.. Most of these shops that do installs don't do proper installs either.

I know a guy with an h22 in an EK done by a well known shop here and it not even done right. full egr is not connected, idle's Fuked and other crap.

Gatherer,

The mounts are tight.. I think too tight actually.. I need to loosen and torque em down to 55.

There is no flex in the engine like whatsoever when you rev it.

I'll probably just wait for my eprom programmer and chip it.

This is entirely true, that's why I do my own work too, but they'd have a scanner to read the sensor inputs... it's about equipment and the factory service manual at this point, rather than anything else. I'm fresh out of ideas... I mean... you've covered it all... right? Try Altech, they have experience with these things.
