engine code question???need help

i bought a jdm type r motor recently.....the bock says b18c

it also has a stamping that says P72

the intake maniold says p73?????
my ecu also says p73

so the p72 stamping on the block,
could it be that my block is a jdm gsr motor with a type r intake manifold and head????????

was i ripped off by any chance?

please help

nope because a ITR intake manifold wont bolt up to a GSR head
maybe you got a poor mans type r a p72 (gsr) bottom end with a b16 head and a type r intake manifold and ecu

yeah thats my question....theres a stamping on the block that reads p72, its right under in intake manifold

i believe thehead and IM are type r, but i wanna make sure that my block is not GSR

if it says p72 on the block, is that a GSR block, or maybe
both GSR and type R have the same blocks, p72's ??????

yes that is a ITR head. PR3 is a b16 and an ITR head. The ITR just has a factory port job, dual valve springs on both the intake and exhaust side, and better cams.....other than that its the same casting as a b16 head.
Now, i wouldn't be freaking out bronx b/c i would imagine the gsr and ITR use the same block casting, its just the internals that are different.....kinda like with the PR3 head.

ive been thinking that as well....

even though theres a stamping on the block that says p72....i think it could still be a type r bottom cuz the only apparent difference is the pistons....

does anyone know if the gsr and type r blocks have the same stamping that reads p72 under the IM?????
