engine blown

Well,

My car won't rev past 2800rpm without struggling. It feels like it is misfiring without the engine shaking/vibrating violently. I press the gas and it feels like the car doesn't want to go. Oh and there was no oil left when I checked. No knocking.

This all started after a quick boot to 7000rpm in second gear today. Now that I've topped up the oil, it still acts the same.

I'm stuck at work and I don't know where to go or what to do. My mechanic is on vacation.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Besides compression test.

Check for codes, if there are codes troubleshoot them, reset ecu (remove negatice battery connection for 10-20 seconds). If no improvement I would start looking at ignition issues. Cheapest thing would be to check spark plugs and replace them, also cap and rotor are cheap to replace aswell.

pull out the plugs.. read what they say.

Could be you just need a tune-up. Check the resisitance of every spark plug wire (should exceed 7,000ohms per foot). If the plugs are white/tan you are either burning coolant or running real lean. If they are black a suedy you are running too rich.

Your engine is most likely not done.. and i know you said not to suggest a compression test.. but you shoudl really do one
