engine blown?

This might be the wrong spot to post but maybe not.

So I picked up my 95 dx coupe on jan 13 2006, (which was a friday), and my engine is apparently blown. now i'm not asking for mechnical advise so bare with me. I bought the car with 132 009
km and it seemed to be in great shape. the car had 33 000km in july 19 2004 as per used vehical package print out provided with purchase. that means roughly 100 000kms put on in less then one year before the dealer bought it from wholesale auction???
the last owner had car was registered in may 10 1999 and it was some chick that i can't seem to track done anywhere.

The car wasn't safety right to begin with so i scammed the dealer/certifyer for extra parts untop of them fixing what needed to be fixed. then i had a leak problem which i got honda head office to cover 50% of cost. thanks to the bulletin you posted on this site. there still is a leaking issue which evolved from the bulletin but honda won't cover so i found someone to do a patch weld job and clean up the mess. Now the engine is shot since the cylinder head gasket is done for and my car keeps over heating. thermastat keeps getting stuck so engine coolant isn't allowed to flow through system. engine coolant is mixing with oil and engines keep bogging down which is burning engine coolant and spitting out the back with lots of white smoke. mechanic did a few tests and new engine is required. I have 2 year power train waaranty but it only covers up to $850 minus $150 deductible. that leaves me with $700 technically to play with. my mechanic says he'll send warranty the papers stating i need new engine and if all works out right he'll drop a 1.6 si vtec engine in since it's a direct bolt up and just tell them he put 1.5 d15 in. he'll do it for about $1100 which meens i'll have to pay about $500.

My question is...do i fight with the place i bought the car from and threaten them since the car is only like 2 months old? do you think warranty will authorize engine replacement or just tell them to replace cylinder head gasket? does the warranty supply an origanal engine and tell mechanic to bill them for labour? when i called warranty place, (auto gaurd) they said to take it to mechanic and have them call them before repairs are done. I've never had to deal with warranty issues before so i'm not sure what to expect. This car has been nothing but a pain in my *** ever since i got it....damm friday the 13TH!

anybody have suggestions or comments for me?

sorry for the long post.

thanks guys/girls!

Sounds like you got scammed from the get-go. Bite the bullet and get it fixed. I wouldn't let the dealer touch the car because they will just get the cheapest parts just to get it out.

For all of the time, effort and money it would take to get the dealer to fix it, I wouldn't bother. It's easier to say, but consider it a learning experience.

I don't know how much money you have or are willing to spend on a motor, but Teknotik should be able to help you out with something higher performance. You could probably even pick up a gently used D16 for next to nothing if you're on a budget.

if you aren't doing the work yourself.. its not even worth dumping all the money to fix it. Buy another engine or shop around for the cheapest price.

Dealers like to charge a lot for head gasket replacement.

i hear this dealer in almost everybodys post now do you mean a honda dealer or a used car dealer?
because honda dealers dont through junk into there cars warranty or not they will always use oem unless the customer tells them otherwise or (brings there own parts).<then all warranty is off doesnt matter what happens.
p.s. they will send your head out to be leak and pressure tested and if all is fine slap a new gasket on there and be done.

i would take it to the dealer... and selective sound if they are gona slap on a new engine .. its a genuine(sp?) honda engine. because if it is warranty you have to put back OEM parts not aftermarket no matter what year it is. if it is paying 500 for it.. i would be going ahead with that... but anways good luck

cylinder head gasket seems to be gone and there is also crack in the cylinder head as well. due to over heating the chambers have expanded as well so there is a shetty ticking sound while driving due to internal wobbling. engine is in fact pouched and warranty says gaskets aren't covered so they will only pay for cylinder head to be machined. they said if anything i would have to get engine rebiuld since they don't endorse used engines altogether. Was quoted $1800 on rebiuld from their mechanic that i have to go through plus they said i have to pay $200 to have engine opened up to ensure that is the real problem. so with $850 of coverage minus $150 deductable, minus $200 diagostic fee, that left me with $500 of coverage which would have to go towards parts/labour on machining cylinder head and i pay for cylinder head gasket on my own...or engine rebiuld by one of their guys for $1800 leaving me to pay $1300.

I opted for the big FACK - YOU A*S HAT and now I'm getting 1.5 vtec (130hp) brought in through my mechanic with garauntee of less than 50 000km. He'll do it for $1040 and give me 1 yr full parts and labour for EVERYTHING instead of 90 days. good news is that I'm getting newer better engine with more power and it's cheaper than going through warranty but the bad news is that it's not as strong as i wanted it to be. Anyway, the only thing i need to do now is find someone to chip my comp but i guess i'll do a check on here somewhere or talk to eric at tek.

thanks to everyone for there insight and help thus far.

P.S. autogard wouldn't disclose any info on their last names and or where abouts except that they work out of montreal so i can't even get any revenge on them. i guess i'll have to put some pressure on the dealer i bought it from, (euro sport auto), and see what i can get out of him.

**** end of the stick but **** happens so whatever.
