Disabling Power Steering

Fastest way, remove belt.
2nd method, loop your fluid system.
Proper way, to switch your PS Rack to a Non-PS Rack and remove all lines and PS pump.
Effect, as some claim, heavier steering response for a better control.

Have you ever driven a non power steering car? Its quite different.. but its excelent on the highway.
I suggest doing it proper man...
like charles said ... remove lines and your Pump... now i didnt change my PS Rack.. its a little wierd with a PS Rack rather than having a Non PS Rack IMO you dont really need to change the rack.. but i would reccomend that you do..

Bryce has no ps on a ps rack and its messed... you turn it so much and its smooth, then its like it hits this really difficult part and you have to crank the wheel extra hard... i like ps, much smoother...

That's the thing.
I drilled in some Momo's on my pedals and can feel the pattern on my foot -- racing feel. My seat already has a crazy incline (as my friend put it, like a lawn chair recline). The next step is if i can lose the power steering. A friends 50 year old aunt drives some sh!tbox without PS... if she can do it, so can it.
As someone once said on this site regarding cruise control -- toughen up! I never use the cruise. Well, same goes for PS. Yah, it's convenient, but when treating cars as pylons on the 401 at 2am going 140 with beats pounding and a spliff in your hand on the stick shift.... fck PS.

Just dont expect to be able to pull 3 point turns right away...
Depending on your tires and how sticky they are it will make it harder as well....
Another factor is how heavy your rims are too.
But you can definately kiss dry steering goodbye.

grow some muscles! non ps is perfectly fine in a civic. i don't know how you guys drive with ps, i prefer the feedback i get from non ps over ps. i do 3 pt turns and parallel downtown like its a joke. you get used to it man.

Back to basics.
One will get used to non-PS. It's just like learning to drive manual... it's a b!tch the first little while, but second nature afterwards. I can't go back to auto, i'd be so bored.
But i lowered the tilt on my wheel all the way down and i guess with the angle i'm at, i feel a little more stiffness in the turning and i like it! Just want to go all the way now and lose the PS (but not fck up the components).
I'm going to put an Ractive steering wheel in but i bought the wrong hub, fck. It's a b!tch to get that wheel off too.
What kind of a task am i looking at to remove the necessary PS components? I find all the install and repairs i do take 2-3 times longer than i anticipate. No big deal, but i like instant results every now and then (like my parking brake install.... f'n done in 2 mintues!).

just like bogle said back to basics.
changin the power steering rack and all that is not worth it unless you change your crank pulley aswell you will remove a few lbs and it looks cleaner too.
ctr n1 pulley OEM HONDA item.
