Cracked header...what to do

I have a stock header on my civic. I was replacing my primary o2 sensor and noticed that it was cracked. Now, since the manifold is cast iron, i was wondering if it would be better to replace it with aftermarket or get it welded? Thoughts?

Aftermarkets will run you about 450. Haven't heard of anyone welding it. I had the same problem........ twice! It's well known problem with the d16y7 manifolds. I was able to find one on the board for 60 bucks. Try looking on the board and see if anyone is parting out a D16y7 engine or convert it to a
y8 manifold.

Any good exhaust shop can weld it. I've had countless manifolds welded at JPG exhaust in Oakville, but any shop can do this service for you. We just remove them, walk it over and they do it for $40.

If it's not to big CT sells "HiTempSteel" in the autosection

Will cost you about $7.00...??

Works Amazing!!!!!

I used it about a year ago on my exhaust mani, and it worked like a charm!

The crack is a hairline going through the middle, but im not sure if it extends through the back or not and i can't tell unless i take it off.

The car is a 2000 Civic SE (dx motor , 1.6L).

i don't know why honda designed such a stupid thing. The cat is welded to the manifold so if i want to replace it, I was quoted $3950 plus labor to put it in.

Buy that hitempsteel stuff, who cares if it goes around you will easily be able to cover 1 inch all the way around the manifold and have some left over
