Talking Couple Exhuast questions.

Hi guys.

I have couple questions:

1. On a small displacement motor, such as a 1.5 liter (D15b7),what is good size
for a cat-back exhuast system, that won't kill any torque? Also, I was told that straight-through mufflers also contribute to loose of torque. So I guess my question is, what kindda custom exhuast should I ask for, that won't sacrifice any torque, and help my car pickup some power as well.....?

2. Whats the deal with race cars throwing flames out of their mufflers? I read somewhere that flames come out of cars that are running rich on fuel. Especialyly Turbo cars and the ones equipped with mis-firing systems. So why flames? How is it that the extra gas flames-up, comming out of he muffler on these cars?

Thanks.

i've noticed that keeping the stock exhaust gave much better results than going with a free flowing one that is if everything else is stock.
i guess spend the money elsewhere, maybe a good CAI.
