Coolant Flush

Im planning a coolant flush on my SiR.

When I remove the drain bolt from the cylinder block, how much coolant should I expect to be drained ?

Where is the drain bolt located on an SiR.
I think is beside the fuel filter on all other civics, but the SiR is different.

Here is how I plan on doing my coolant flush. I do not want to use a flush kit, or a garden hose. Please let me know if this is the correct procedure.

1. Remove the radiator cap.
2. Loosen the drain plug, and drain the coolant.
3. Remove the drain bolt from the cylinder block.
4. Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
5. Drain the reservoir. Fill the tank with water.
6. Fill the radiator with water.
7. Run the car until the fan turns on 2 times.
8. Drain the water from radiator and clyinder block.
9. Fill radiator and reservior with 50/50 coolant and water.
10. Reinstall the rad cap lightly.
11. Run the car till the radiator fan comes on atleast twice.
12. Check the level in the rad, add coolant if needed.
13. Pt the radiator cap on tightly.

that sounds ok. but it assumes all the water is drained out. if there is any water left in there, it will give you a less than 50/50 mix. you could do what you said, but then add undiluted coolant to half the capacity of the system. then top off with water. that way you know you get a 50/50 mix.

use the garden hose method, much quicker, easier.

Who cares if its not excatly 50/50. not like 5% more water is going to hurt anything.

I dun even know if there is a coolant drain on the block... all the manuals say to reverse flush using a garden hose back out the thermo body.

yea, Im not sure about a drain on the block either.
I have 2 manuals, and 1 says to do a reverse flush using a garden hose (which I dont wanna do), and the other ones(Helms), says there is a drain on the block.

I prefer just to drain, fill with water, and let the car run for a bit.
Than drain the water. Do this process a few times, till I see clean water being drained.
If I assume there is still some water in the system after the drain, I can just use a 60/40 coolant+water mix.

Can someone tell me if this will be okay...

yea i dont think their is a drain plug on the cylinder block .. correct me if im wrong.. but i did the garden hose method to flush my sir worked perfectly.... during winter flushing ur coolent sys is a pain in the *** i had to wait like 30 min beofre my car warmed up it was pissing me off but its ok it was worth it.. im not sure about the 60/40 mix i would just go w the 50/50 no matter what maby 55/45 coolant/water....just dont get the coolant too thick so if i was u ill go w the 50/50 it doesnt hurt if u get soem extra water in the coolant unlkess u live up north where the weather is -30 all year round

You can't get the exact amount, a little +/- is no problem. It is like oil change, you will always have old oil left in there.

What matters is you have more fresh coolant than before.

Garden hose method is good because what's left is just tap water, as oppose to old coolant. However, I would rather mix old coolant with new than tap water with coolant.
