CEL light? wtf?

after driving all day in the rain on saturday. i went to importfest and on the way there i hit some big *** puddles but i don't have a cai or anything. everything was working fine until after the show. i get out of the parking lot and get on the gardiner and noticed that my speedo wasn't working. i was like wtf how the hell did i fry the chip behind the speedo again? because that's what happened last time. now it seems to be fine but its just that the speedo seems a little bit slow in dropping back down.

i drove the car yesterday and the speedo works when i turn the car on and drive it for like 5 minutes then it goes crazy and drops to 0. i drove to school today and the speedo is fine but its only like 2 mins away. i know that when your speedo is reading 0 and your car is moving it'll trigger the CEL but what really puzzled me is that the CEL came on while the speedo was still working. i was going like 50 and the CEL came on. wtf? any ideas on what the CEL is?

i'm going to take apart my cluster tonite if i have time to see if i fried the chip again but i don't see how i could have since the last time i fried it was because my altenator was spiking and overloaded everything in my car and blew out all my bulbs and stuff. this time my car was working perfectly fine until after importfest. i remember hitting two big puddles getting off the gardiner but that is it. i popped the hood after and everything was dry inside so i don't know what the problem is.

You can find out what the CEL code(s) are. Search this forum for instructions on how to do it, then you'll find out exactly why the CEL light is on. That's the first thing to do, instead of taking apart the cluster (that may be a waste of time if the problem is not there).

Since your saying it had to do with the raining drive, I'd say there may be a problem with your vehicle speed sensor. It sits on the transmission and is exposed to all the elements from underneath.. Generally it's supposed to be sealed, including the clip, but god knows.
