Cams Question
hi people
I'm about the purchase a Set of Cams for my B18C5
Currently I've Shaved Head and thin head gasket, thats it
these are the specs
Advertised Duration
Int- 311 mid
Exh-308 mid
Duration @ .050"
Int- 255 mid
Exh-248 mid
Gross Lift w/1.55
Int- 466 mid
Exh-466 mid
from Crower's site
it this set of cams more aggressive than the Skunk2 Pro2?
or not even?
or comparable with the Buddy Club 3 / 4?
I've searched around the site, but honestly Im a noob on Cams Duration or lift. I just know if i have not too much compression, do not run too aggressive Cams..
Thanks

if your motor is pretty much stock internals, i doubt your compression bumped up significantly from just the shaved head and thin head gasket... i wouldn't run much more of a stage 2 if you want to keep it as a daily driver for reliability purposes.

But i thought If i have a good setup on valvetrain
it wouldn't be a problem running aggressive cams
I know i won't be able to get the best gain that it should provide.
and what other upgrades for the head as in example to get a better result from cams...head only

if its stock, on a B18C-R you can get away with stage 2 cams, as long as your valvetrain can handle the higher lift of the cams.
Running cams that are too agressive for your engine will give you crappier results than cams that are better suited for your application.
Headwork (port and polish, valve job, combustion chamber welding/reshaping) is a must for good results with big cams. I mean if you're head can't get enough air into the combustion chamber, whats the point of having cams with too much lift or too much duration?
Don't forget about tuning, also a must with bigger cams/higher compression.
