There's this new person out there called a mechanic. They fix cars for money. If the problem is this serious you might want to try one as a last resort.

If the car chugs on acceleration you may not have all cylanders working. While it's running and parked unplug the wires one by one and see if there is one or more that you don't notice as big a loss without as the others. If there is then that cylander isn't firing right.

As for the speedometer.... the cable could have become partially disconnected from a bump. Just a thought.

check for a loose wire on the VSS module, or maybe it just came loose a bit

but that wont affect his chugging

maybe he put diesel in by accident j/k

If I offer a joke with my attempt at a helpful comment and I get made fun off I usually take it badly just like everyone else and I will reply to that stupidity with more stupidity.

quit dicking around and keep it clean.

check to see what code you're getting. odds are you'll get a VSS code and possibly a misfire code for one or more cylinders. Then go from there to diagnose each cyl. Check resistance on the plug wires, should be around 1K ohms ideally. Was the engine bay washed recently or otherwise got a nice bath somehow?

one more off topic post in this thread and you're both banned. we don't need this childish bickering. yuki was kidding, he's sorry end of story.

coreyhayman, check the dizzy cap for cracks/holes and general condition. dielectric grease the plug wires (if the resistance checks out) and also same with the VSS connection.

There is no cable dude! There is a sensor, and an electronic cluster. Cable speedos are old news in Hondas...

Get a spray bottle w/ water in it.. .With the car running, spray mist all over the dizzy and wires.. If there's cracks , the car will start to hesistate and might even shut off.

I've had a few hondas with VSS that died.. Move the wires around while the car is on and see if that effect the speedometer.. If it does, could be a break in the wire. Otherwise time to replace the sensor. Check out the engine code first though, pretty sure it will be VSS.

If you had a cylinder blown, trust me the car would not even stay on. My Integra on 3 cyls could not stay alive @ idle.. Speedo cable were in the older EF's I think and I know for sur ein the G2 Integras.

I'm sure VSS has a testing procedure... like with the car running, it should be putting out a voltage that increases as the speed increases, so put the car on jackstands and get it in gear... measure voltage of the VSS, then slowly increase speed and see if volts also increase. I think a VSS is just a little gear driven generator.
