ball joint question
#22
yeah it could be. upper ones you check with the car on the ground, you just shake the top of the wheel and watch for play. the lower one, you jack the car up and put a pry bar between the lower control arm and the steering knuckle and pry against it, watch for play.

i think the ball joint sounds like a knocking.. i forget really though.. the bushing sounded like a knocking. heres what the bushing looks like.. if you tip it up it will fall right out. thats not what is supposed to happen.. bbarbulo could overtightening the bushings cause the bushing to do this?
thanks

naw it couldn't. only way to tear out a bushing like that would be if the bolt seized to the bushing inside metal jacket and tore off when you tried to remove it. if it didn't go down like that, then the bushing was defective to begin with.

bolt was easier to get out then the one that wasnt as bad.. and it didnt happen when i was removing it.. i pulled on the wheel before i started any thing and felt the ball joint and it wasnt moving back the wheel was still moving so i figured id put my hand on the bushing part and it was moving. ya. carquest has some poopy products. defective axle and now a bushing.. i just hope my drivers side lasts longer. but it doesnt take long to replace it just sucks when you have no time to do it.

well the ball joints are still good.. its just the bushings on the passenger side that were shot. i bought two hatch upper control arms for 50 bucks.. the control arms are too short for the sedan but i can still use the ball joints and bushings from the drivers side arm
