how come i've gone 200 km/h (on a track of course) and i have a 93 Si hatch?? never noticed any fuel cut off
|
OBDII is governed... and I did it in Mexico... so there is nothing illegal about that :p :marchmell :D
:hide: |
so obd I cars are not governed??
|
nope in canada I don't think any of the cars are governed ... I've gone 190 on the track with no problem

is the 401 considered a track? :p LOL j/k I took mine to Mexico.... I had plen-t of opp't for mischief w/o getting in trouble.... the desert highways are vast and empty :)

Well, my EK has the torque equal to the most viscious weed wacker known to mankind. Also, I have '03 Si rims on it, and they are alot heavier than the stock 13 steelies. Before I switched the rims, it would still only do about 105mph. I think you are right about the governer. No one has answered my question about the top speed with a B20? B16 tranny vs. ls tranny vs gsr tranny? Who's got them and how fast do they go? My primary focus isn't drag racing. I love speed. So being able to maintain 140 mph would be tits. 0-60 time around 6 seconds wouldn't be bad either.
|
BTW - can anyone tell me why honda makes a 250hp turbo jet ski and my hatch has only 90hp?!

We can't say top speed cuz most of us haven't gone top speed... :hide: cuz we drive on the streets... and it depends on your tranny, final drive, and tire height... LS will give you the highest top speed. An estimated 220-230 km/hr ungoverned.
|
jason_alt, let us be technically correct... longer and shorter is a term farmers and wankers use... an engineer wouldn't be caught dead using that terminology.
GSR has numerically higher effective gear ratios than an LS tranny... as such it provides quicker accel than the lower-level counterpart. |

As for calculating speeds from numerically higher effective gear ratios (like how I slipped that in there? you know you do!!) and vice versa, give this link a try... calculations & more calculations |
governerns exist
Firsthand, I experienced:
-1.5L 95 dx CUT-OUT at 185km/h. I tried this many times (on a track of course). -B18B1 dx hatch, hit 205km/h, but could go only a little more, maybe 210...ran outta road. I think I was at 5900rpm in 5th at 205, and I dun wannna blow my engine nor kill myself on the track. Can you believe that a stock 1999 Z24's cut-out at around 165km/hs! You can get there quite often, on a track of course. Even so, that Z24 still beats my B18 hatch! :( |

6700??? Really? When I am on the track, I don't shift until after 7000 man? Did you mean redline started at 6700?? Cause that'd make sense, I still have my Si gauge cluster, and for some stupid reason I still shift at almost the same point. hehehe I tell ya though the rev limiter is alot more pronounced in the B20 than it ever was on my D16Z6. As far as trannies, god I wish I could have a GS-R 5th gear set with my 1-4 that I already have. hrrmmm......after doing some research. Turns out my previous thought were wrong. I thought the GS-R had a different final drive than my B16 tranny. But they both use a 4.400 final drive. So then the GS-R 5th would work awesome in my car, and would still maintain 1-4 the way it is. I just wonder if changing the gear would be too dramatic though?? Right now my fourth gear set is 1.107 and fifth is .848 . Now if I was to go to the GS-R 5th gear, my fourth would remain the same at 1.107 and the 5th would be .787, That seems like a fairly significant drop. After reading Adrian Teo's write up about using the LS 5th gear, I'm nervous to lose too much in 5th gear. But, the LS 5th gear is .714 which is even more pronounced. Dammit, too much to think about now!!

So, for a 6th gen hatch, I can still use my old engine mount and swap any B series motors?
I like the B18B + Turbo idea, as I've always been a fan of FI engine. Ya NA is nice, but for idoits like me, I am drawn to the sound of BOV so... |
i think you need the rear motor mount from an 99-00 SiR
|
Oh, are there any current vehicles that still uses B18B motor? Like are they still manufacturing B18B at Honda? Cause I though it is not legal to put in motor that is older then the year of your car.
|
 it probably is illegal
and i dont think there is any b series still in production.... although probably in japan |
