b16a 1st gen or 2nd gen

hey guys i called toyko auto parts (they seem to be the best for your buck).. and the 1st gen costs 1500$ .. 2nd gen costs 2500$$... i 4got to ask about the km but im sure they're around the same. anyways i was wondering should i get the 1st gen and spend the extra grand modifying the engine.. or should i just blow it all and go for the 2nd gen .. i asked my friend about the difference and he said if i get the 1st gen it should be ready for a rebuild.. and i dont want that.. also keep in mind im not the richest man out there.. thanks alot guys and give me ur opinion... also if u can find me an engine cheaper than that thanks guys!

depends on what car its going into. If its going into a 88-91 civic or crx go with a first gen, but if its going into 92 and up get a second gen. 92 and up Hondas use hydraulic transmissions and a second gen b16 also uses a hydraulic tranny. While 91 and older use cable trann's and 1st gen b16's use cable trannies.

yeah i agree with ^^^^^^
there is still lots to learn on your behalf.
The 1st gen b16s are obd0, your car is obd2. There in lays the first problem.

your best bet is to get a USDM obd2 b16a2 for ease of install.
