"Air Breathers"

Alright, here's a really dumb *** question, but Im wondering what "Air Breathers" are for ? Im pretty sure they're for youre intake, but dont know what they do or what they go on, and is it worth getting one ?

Polutes the air......and I think its a 380 fine or so I was told by a friend that got one.

it leaks crankcase vapours and contains oil that leak into your engine bay...second off....

I dont like these filters, because if an intake tube is PROPERLY hooked up, the intake will have more of a vacuum source on the breather valve, then a cheap $15 intake, that just accents the engine bay....you put these on so the crankvapours can escape, why take the tube off so they flow slower?

the benifets of this breather is 100% clean air into the intake with out hot dirty crank case pressure entering the intake.also the throttle body not getting carboned up.But the down side as mentioned before is they are illegal,it is one of the most basic emision controls and the most ovious when one of those e-cops opens the hood,and the fines are around $300.

you can buy proper units that flow into a tank resevoir but there pricey
