VR6 or B16
guys;
i know our club doesn't support street racing, and neither do i, but do you guys know if a Corrado with a VR6 could beat a 92 civic with a b16? my brother is a big VW fan, and I am trying to convince him that a VR6 is nice, but nothing beats maybe not a b16 but b18c5. he says VW rules and honda drules. Civics for life!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

You talking a bone stock Corrado???
Against a 1st or 2nd gen B16A.. Corrado is about 15.5 in the quarter... Civic should run high 14's... :smoker: |
Hell no! A B16 in a civic could kill a Corrado VR6 in 1\4 mile, off the line the VR6 would win, but the Civic would win in the long run, how do I know? I used to have a Corrado Vr6, that is why I pimp the SiR now,.

i gto a b16 in a my crx
vroom vroom! |
2nd gen b16 would beat a corrado definitly! but corrados are heavy

i hate volkswagons, but a stock b16 should blow the doors off a vr6, it's been done quite alot this summer:nods: |
If you’re going to run a stock corrado vr6 against a swap B16 then it's not fare
Allow the corrado to shave weight to match the civic and the VR6 will rip it a new ass Don't stack the odds just to make a civic look fast |

who's talking about a K20?
it's VR6 vs B16 now you want to bring in a ringer? |

Hmm, interesting disscussion, I drove a VR6 in both a new Jetta, and in a GTI, plus I got to compare it to 1.8T.
VR6 is nice, regarless of the chassis. Has a lot of low end torque, can't get that kind of low end go from my B16. However, I'd still take my B16, why? it makes 100HP per liter stock, few engine manufactures can do that reliably enough to put it in a production car. The FEW others include the likes of McClaren and Farrari and those engines are A LOT more expensive. It has a high RPM (8000) it's all about knowing how to drive it, keep the revs high and keep it in the VTEC and it'll keep giving. When it comes top speed and highway cruzing, a B16 with a well educated driver can keep a lot of more expensive cars in the rear view mirror. Other things to consider: if it was a race competition, would these engines even be in the same class? V6 vs inline 4? 2.8L vs 1.6? All things to consider. I like Champ cars but they are no match for an F1 car. To sum up, B16, dirt cheap, easily swaped, 100 HP per L. Try that for a VW. I think that if Honda made the VR6 it'd be 280 HP not 200 and if VW made the B16 it'd be 90 HP with more torque. It's all about how you like your engines, low HP with "monstor truck pull" torque, or crazy high reving, high output "F1-ish" engine. Personally I think it's harder to make a stable high reving engine, that why I love Honda. |
What about VR6 vs ZC?
I know a particularly fast ZC |

I'm not flamming ya... just pointing out the obvious Look at the S2000 engine, makes OVER 100 HP per liter. THat's when they try. IMO I like the high reving engines, I think it's cool.:) VR6's are nice but they aren't my style. |
Originally posted by echien That's because they aren't trying, those cars are more toned down. Look at the S2000 engine, makes OVER 100 HP per liter. THat's when they try. They ARE trying... they just can't keep quality control high enough to mass produce a few million TL/Accord engines that make over 300Hp and provide the owner with warranty. Ever notice that the ITR engine is hand picked and handed tuned? Same with the S2k... |
displacment=win if all technology is equal...eg: chips, intakes, etc
